How it works
This is an estimate for the 2026/27 tax year using England rates. We start from the standard Personal Allowance of £12,570 (tapered by £1 for every £2 of income over £100,000, reaching £0 at £125,140). Income Tax is then applied to your taxable income: 20% on the first £37,700, 40% on taxable income from £37,700 up to the £125,140 income threshold, and 45% above that. Employee (Class 1) National Insurance is 8% on earnings between £12,570 and £50,270 and 2% above £50,270. It does not include pension contributions, student loan repayments, salary sacrifice, Scotland/Wales variations or other adjustments.
